EverFi Brings Quality Content to Big Challenges
EverFi brings quality learning experiences to widely experienced challenges.
Launched in 2008 with sponsored financial literacy content, I remember reviewing the EverFi business plan and being skeptical of the business model, even with name brand investors on board in the first round.
I should have paid more attention to co-founder and CEO Tom Davidson–he’s been looking for ways to make an impact since he was in college. While a senior at Bowdoin College, Tom was elected to the Maine House of Representatives and served three consecutive terms.
Today, the D.C.-based company has 461 North American staff members employees and has raised $251M in 4 Rounds from 15 Investors. After proving the business model, some big time investors including Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Google Chairman Eric Schmidt, Twitter Founder Evan Williams and U2 lead singer Bono joined thoughtful impact investors including Rethink Education as EverFi supporters.
In K-12 education, more than 20,000 schools actively use EverFi’s digital learning courses, not just on financial education but also now on health and wellness, STEM career readiness and summer learning loss. All of these important resources are free to K-12 schools because of EverFi’s proven business model.
EverFi has worked with over 90,000 K-12 teachers and has a partnership with Bloomboard (where I’m a Director) to offer teachers a microcredential in financial education.
In addition, over 1,700 HigherEd campuses pay EverFi to deliver important digital learning experiences on campus sexual assault prevention, alcohol responsibility and drug abuse prevention as a part of the Campus Prevention Network.
In the past year through acquisitions, EverFi has also entered in the corporate learning space where over 1,900 companies pay directly for EverFi’s diversity, ethics and compliance digital learning suites.
Just as important as the digital learning experiences, EverFi has invested in and developed core capabilities in activating in districts, campuses and corporations large and small, supported by its more than 100 former teachers on staff ensuring turnkey service. Finally, EverFi is focused on evidence based learning with important impact data using both formative assessment and measuring students’ attitudes and behaviors.
Most digital courses are modular to support a variety of deployment options, and the content also works well on big and small screens. From “Financial Literacy” to “Diversity & Inclusion”, EverFi’s online platform is delivering a variety of important life skills to today’s students to positively impact their future college, career and life success.
8/24/17 update: In preparation for the upcoming school year, EverFi released two new digital courses Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention, and Endeavor, a course exploring STEM careers. Additionally, EVERFI’s Vault financial literacy course, Venture entrepreneurship course, and Future Goals: Hockey Scholar course have all undergone upgrades.
