April is Math Awareness Month

Each year, Math Awareness Month’s (MAM) goal is to increase public understanding and appreciation for mathematics. It’s also a good time to check in on the state of math education in the U.S. by asking:

  • Are our students thriving or floundering in math?
  • Have we made any improvements over recent years?
  • What can we do differently as educators, teachers, parents and education companies to help our students do better in a subject that is integral to eight of the top 10 paying jobs in the nation?

The following infographic from Cengage Learning shares recent research and statistics on the state of math education in the country.

Great infographic about how necessary math is for our adult lives! Is there anything else that is happening for Math Awareness Month that is promoting the importance of math in K-12 education? I'm wondering if there's a way for professional engineering societies or college campuses to get involved.
