Enabling Personalized Learning to Trust the Future
This talk goes in circles around one specific topic — enabling different learning in education systems. Why?
Because the world will experience threats to order that need solutions that our current thinking systems can’t help us imagine. We need to enable our students of today to think about things in ways that are different than our own. But our education system is locking them into our expectations, not their expectations.
It’s critical that we understand that when people think in different ways than our own, they are not wrong. They are holding up the other end of the table, which is missing a leg, and will be. For a very long time.
This riffs off the idea that everyone is a different type of thinker and each individual needs a specific personalized education. What happens when we stop looking at human elements we need to train out of people, and start thinking about enabling all the differences we have as learners and teachers of each other?
