Starting September 3, a database of lessons will feed daily lessons to K-12 students on a new free homeschool platform, Palomar K12.
Veteran software engineer Sheri Wells started building the platform for her kids. Her husband, experienced entrepreneur, Gary Brooks is advisor and chief cheerleader. Sheri built out the entire K-12 platform with a very small team.
Wells used a lot of open content but packaged it in interesting ways dished up as daily tasks. Most courses include a simple ebook. See How it Works for more details.
Palomar looks like a thoughtful academic framework but student success will require persistence, supervision, and support.
Palomar is a remarkable development likely to be welcomed by homeschoolers looking for great free resources.
