SchoolTube Is Rapping to the Tune of Math
Learning Videos / by Getting Smart Staff

Today SchoolTube is featuring Math Rap videos, showcasing educators and students rapping about math concepts to the tune of popular radio hits. The fun and catchy video “All I Do Is Solve” by Westerville South High School (WSHS) in Westerville, Ohio explores system thinking in math and graphing.
This video, which is one of five Math Rap videos the school has produced on SchoolTube, has been a big hit on the educational video site. Like last Friday’s film feature, it shows how learning in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) can be creative, fun, and entertaining for students incorporating more technology tools than calculators such as language, video, and editing tools.
What’s more, this video demonstrates how educators can effectively meet students at the intersection of their cultural interests and learning in the classroom. It’s great to see such a high level of cooperation, creativity, and engagement across multiple classroom teachers and students.
With so many hip teachers at WSHS, I’d imagine this school has a ton fun at pep assemblies. I’m going to have the well-crafted chorus stuck in my head for the rest of the afternoon: ”All I do is solve, solve, solve no matter what. Got systems on my mind, I can never get enough. And every time I step up in the classroom, all my students’ hands go up!”
